Phule Samarth Onion Seeds — Premium Hybrid Red Onion
Product Description
Phule Samarth onion seeds produce deep-red, round bulbs that mature in approximately 100–110 days — perfect for both Kharif and Rabi (Rangda) seasons. These high-yielding seeds deliver an impressive 20–25 t/ha in Kharif and 40–45 t/ha in Rabi, making them an excellent choice for commercial growers.
The uniform dark-red color of the mature bulbs appeals strongly to markets, fetching premium prices. The average bulb weight is 110–120 g, ensuring consistent size and good shelf appeal.

Agronomic Details
-
Seed treatment: Treat with Thiram, M-45, Roko, Bavistin, or Ridomil Gold at 3 g per kg of seed for protection before sowing.
-
Nursery preparation: Use sandy-loamy, well-drained soil (pH 6.0–7.5). Deep ploughing and harrowing help control soil-born fungal diseases (like Rhizoctonia, Phytophthora, Pythium, Fusarium).
-
Sowing:
-
Drill seeds at a depth of 1–1.5 cm.
-
Row spacing: 5–7.5 cm.
-
After sowing, sprinkle a light layer of decomposed manure or compost, then water gently.
-
-
Weed control:
-
Harrow twice using a hoe.
-
Alternatively, apply Pendimethalin at 2 ml per L before seedlings emerge, if using herbicides.
-
-
Pest & Disease Management:
-
Major pest: Flower beetle — control with Fipronil (5 SC) at 1 ml/L or Carbosulfan (25 EC) at 2 ml/L, especially in rainy season (add sticker).
-
For rot disease (black/brown): At ~20 days after sowing, spray Mancozeb at 2.5 g/L in 19:19:19 NPK solution. Use micronutrient mix (Zn 3%, Fe 2.5%, Mn 1%, Cu 1%, B 0.5%) as recommended by soil tests.
-
-
Transplanting: At 40–45 days, transplant the seedlings at a spacing of 15×10 cm, after trimming ~1/3rd of the seedling top.
-
